BECOMING A SPONSOR

Someone Once Helped You Too
If you’ve walked this road and found steadiness, you understand how much a steady voice matters. Many men are ready to change but don’t know who to talk to first. Sometimes what they need most is someone who remembers what the beginning felt like.
Sponsors are peer supporters, not therapists or authority figures.
Your role is to walk alongside — not to fix, diagnose, or control.
This can include:
• Regular check-ins
• Honest conversations
• Encouragement during difficult moments
• Sharing what has helped in your own recovery
• Helping someone stay grounded and accountable
Every connection will look a little different, and both people decide together what works best.
You May Be a Good Fit If…
You have established stability in your recovery
• You’re willing to listen without judgment
• You can be consistent and reliable
• You respect boundaries and confidentiality
• You understand you’re offering support, not therapy
• You want to help someone take their next step
You don’t have to be perfect. You just need to be steady.
HOW IT WORKS
Recovery Compass is built for two people:
Those who are looking for a sponsor, and those who feel called to be one.

1
You fill out a short form.
STEP
You’ll answer a few simple questions about things like your age range, interests, communication style, and availability. This helps us get a sense of who you are and what kind of connection might work best.

2
We look for a thoughtful match
STEP
We review each submission and search our sponsor database for someone who aligns with your preferences things like life stage, hobbies, personality, and availability. Our goal is to make introductions that feel natural, respectful, and comfortable.

3
We introduce you
two.
STEP
Once we find a match, we’ll send an email introduction with each other’s contact information. From there, you take it at your own pace and decide together how you’d like to connect. Our role is simply to help create the connection, what you build from there is up to you.

Why Sponsors Matter
Your Experience Has Value
Recovery often becomes stronger when it’s shared. Many men don’t need perfection they need someone who understands, listens honestly, and walks beside them without judgment. Being a sponsor isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about offering perspective, accountability, and steady encouragement from someone who has lived it. Recovery Compass exists to help create those connections.

Trust, Privacy & Respect Matter Here
We understand that reaching out takes courage. That’s why Recovery Compass is built around respect, discretion, and clear boundaries.
• Your information is never sold or shared publicly.
• Matches are made intentionally, not randomly.
• You are always in control of whether you continue a connection.
• There is no pressure, no obligation, and no expectation to share more than you’re comfortable with Recovery Compass is a peer-connection platform, not a therapy service. We encourage professional support when needed and believe healthy recovery often includes multiple layers of support.
